The brief

Microfinance in Sri Lanka runs on rules that vary by lender and change with the market: how much any one guarantor may back, the ceiling on new lending in a month, whether interest accrues daily, weekly or monthly. Hard-coding those guarantees a rewrite within the year. We put them in a configuration screen the lender controls — asset thresholds, maximum loan, monthly lending cap, loans per guarantor, and a default interest rate for each collection cycle. The lending workflow then enforces whatever is configured, so a policy change is an afternoon of admin rather than a development request.

What we built

  • 01 Borrower and guarantor registration with asset records
  • 02 Configurable daily, weekly and monthly interest rates
  • 03 Maximum loan, monthly total and loans-per-guarantor limits
  • 04 Loan approval process with staged workflow
  • 05 Collection tracking, payments and arrears reporting
