The brief

Firms doing retainer work do not have projects that end, they have periods that repeat. Modelling a project as a single record with one invoice forces awkward workarounds every month, so this system treats the period as the unit that carries the assignment and the payment. "What is unbilled this month" becomes a query rather than an afternoon.
