The brief

Function venues take deposits months in advance, collect the balance in instalments, and occasionally refund all of it — usually recorded across a diary, a receipt book and somebody's memory. We built a booking system around how the venue actually sells: a date, a hall with a guest capacity, a session, a function type, then a menu with service charges layered on top. Every payment against a booking is recorded as an instalment with a printable receipt, so the outstanding balance is a number the system knows rather than one the manager calculates. The event calendar prevents the double bookings that a shared paper diary makes almost inevitable.
